MEElec Cable Quality

Are the newer MEElec cables (with the semi-transparent sheath and angled connector) introduced on various models in the last 6-10 months or so, proving to be as good as they seem? Anybody out there in head-fi land have problems with these cables?

I have some of the newer M9P's, and I'm considering using them to re-cable other IEM's.

The M6 cables are probably the best I have amongst IEMs.  Durability, fit (earguides), microphonics.

Same with the M9 -- nearly tangle free, fairly quiet, and sharp looking with the silver/black check pattern.

I really like the M9 cables. These kinds of cables really should be on every earphone that has a crappy one such as say the Hifiman ones for example.

My only complaint is the 35 degree plug. I would rather it be straight or right angled instead of halfway.

The cables on the M9 and M11P+ are the best on any IEM I've owned thus far. They are soft, flexible while at the same time providing a sense of durability that is unrivaled in my collection. Microphonics aren't an issue in the slightest with any of my MEElec IEMs besides the SX-31, which doesn't use the same kind of cable, especially when worn over the ear.

If more IEMs used cables like those found on MEElec's IEMs, the world would be a better place.

I have one of the first-batch rev2 M6s and it's still going strong 10 months later. Meelec M2/M2P might make a good cable donor as it's cheap ($10-12) and has an L-plug like the M6/R1 rather than the hockey stick-shaped plug that the M9/M11 have.

The cable is great, my only complaint is that it is a bit tacky so it tends to (for want of a better word) "catch" on itself.  If you're only using them to recable, buy the black earphones unless you want the bling, the silver cable that came with my clear M6 is so much more shiny and reflective than the darker grey that came with my black M6.

Joker,

Good idea on the M2 cables as donor, but when I checked just now the M2P's use the hockey stick connector, unlike the non-P model.

My goal in re-cabling would be to add the mic/remote functionality of the "P" model on my beloved Fisher DBA-02's. Will that work?

Ah, didn't realize that the M2P had a hockey stick plug. Either way there shouldn't be a problem with remote/mic functionality in a transplanted cord, so long as you don't damage it.
