If you buy a Clip+ I would strongly suggest toy install Rockbox on it.

But yes both Rockbox and the original firmware intergrate the microSD memory into the database.

The bonus of Rockbox in this case is it allows for folder borwsing which will allow you to easily select music from either the internal or external memory.

Also I think you are making way to much a deal about driving your RE0s. They will run perfectly fine from 97% of players at normal noise levels.

The RE0 are listed as having a maximum input of 30mW, so in theory from a constant source with unchanging voltage they can be driven to 3000dB.

Decibels are on a logarithmic scale, remember?  Otherwise IEMs could run a block party.

Now I understand. The RE0/IE6 and Clip+/Fuze would work in any way I set it up.

When it comes to IEMs I shouldn't really care about power specifications, that only matters towards headphones.

I was just trying to understand and now I do. Thanks for the help. On the Rockbox site they list the usb as not working on the Clip+/Fuze V2. It said you need to boot in original firmware. Are both firmwares stored on the bios?

100db/1mw = 103db/2mw, 106db/4mw, 109db/8mw, and so on

Don't worry about the quoted power requirements too much; power's usually fine with IEMs; if it's not IEMs then you have worry about impedance variation between frequencies and peaks in the music. Source linearity, especially when loaded, is a bigger headache with portables. Also, shigzeo's measured some weird stuff with multi-driver IEMs like the JH13 and certain amplifiers(both in-player and discrete), and there was some debate about whether that was due to output impedance or the crossovers giving the amp a challenge.

Sony outputs 5+5 mW at 16ohms

Having owned several DAPsi can confirm that

Sony are the least powerful.

Although my sony a726 sounds quite better than clip v2 or apple touch 3g, nano 4g, classic 7g, shuffle 2g ; in most respects

However it is not even as loud as the clip ,leave alone the apple players that are very loud

I doubt any sony player will be able to drive RE0 at respectable volumes

I wasn't planning on getting the Walkman X anyways. It'd be nice to have, but it cost way too much. For less I'd get an iPod Touch, Cowon J3, etc. The reason I was asking is, because they didn't put the impedance they tested on. I decided on either a Cowon J3, if I decide I really need video or a Sansa Fuze.
