List of DACs that work with iPad - Page 42

Does anyone know if this unpowered hub will work with an iPad2 and an iBasso D7?

I am planning to use this combination as the front end for an iBasso P4 and Sennheiser HD25s (as a battery-powered transportable system).

Here is some useful information for anyone intending to use a USB-powered USB DAC with an iPad, without wanting to resort to a mains-powered USB hub...

 

The following "unofficial CCK"/ hub will work with some DACs using only the iPad's battery for power:

If the iPad is not able to provide enough power (I am using an iBasso D7), you can connect a rechargeable USB booster, such as the Sanyo Eneloop KBC-E1A. This works perfectly, and provides a very clean sound. I am currently testing the battery life, and will report back!

 

Total outlay: RMB 34 for the hub and RMB 160 for the booster, amounting to the princely sum of RMB 194 (approx USD 31) for a universal OTG USB DAC capability....

 

Current OTG rig:

 

AIFF -> iPad2 -> hub from Taobao with Eneloop KBC-E1A -> iBasso D7 -> ZY Cable SPC mini-mini interconnect -> iBasso P4 -> HD25 with aftermarket SPC cable.

FYI: New Ipad coming out Feb 5th with 128GB of storage, finally some room for non compressed music.

I thought I'd kick start this thread again (no funky external hub power, etc.). For a good while, ever since iOS 4.2 I think there's been a handful of portable DAC/Amps that work with the iPad via CCK (no idea what happens now with the Lightning).

The new ALO The International DAC Amp works with the iPad without jailbreaking, without any externally powered USB hub, etc.

It also works with iPod touch jailbreaked.

The Pico DAC/Amp also works with the iPad.

May I ask what Cydia app you use to enable the feature. I tried Camera Connector but it was a no-go with jailbroken iPhone 5 using the lightning cck. Maybe it's only compatible with the 30-pin cck? Thanks in advance.

It may be possible that the 30-pin iDevices are the compatible ones. I will be checking it with my iPhone 5 later this evening. I used BigBoss CameraConnector for 99 cents, the same as you.

my T3 hub is being useless at letting me use my uDAC 1 with my iPad 3.

Have you tried with iPhone 5 yet? I would love to be able to use it. 

Does not work with the new Camera Connector. I've not tried a lightning to 30 pin to old camera connector. I have tried lightning to 30 pin and gotten the analogue line out working, however. In other words, it may just work, but I don't have the adapters handy to check... and they are 1200 yen away plus 45 minutes there and 45 minutes back again plus the cost of the adapters themselves... I won't be purchasing them any time soon.
