I have a brand new, in box, Audio Technica AD2000 with less than 30 minutes of use on it.  It is pristine.

The AD2000 is super high quality and sounds great.  It has fuller bass for sure than my K701, and I think that it seems to retrieve details a bit better than the 701.  One thing I love about the AD2000 is the more intimate midrange, by far, than the 701.  But the 701 has an airier, more treble-based sound signature, which just works better for me.  The AD2000 may be more balanced, for sure.  But the 701 is gentler, and my ears are damaged so this works better for me.

Awesome price at $400 plus shipping.  I can have it boxed professionally, insured and in the mail tomorrow.

Well, I'd love to trade.  But the problem is my budget was overstretched to buy the AD2000.  That's because I couldn't pass up the deal.  So, whichever headphone I like, I have to sell the other one.  :(

AD2000 arrive Tuesday, and I'll post which one I'm selling that night.  :D

If it's better than the K701, then I'm drooling already!

OK, hands down I like the sound signature of the K701 better.  I know some of you are shocked.

One thing I love about the AD2000 is the more intimate midrange.  That I miss.  But I'm going with the K701, which means the brand new AD2000 in box with 30 minutes of use (not even that) is up for sale if anyone would like it.

Yeah, I hope you're right.  Didn't feel right charging more than I paid.  Someone else will get a hot deal.  :D

Y'know, I don't think it's a weakness, per say, of the AD2000 not having as airy a soundstage as the K701.  I mean, what headphone does?  And I know that some people don't like it, considering it "fake" soundstage.  

Anyway, the AD2000 sound awesome, and have much the same mid, bass, treble and soundstage setup as the M50 which is truly beloved by all.  However, the bass is not quite as beefy, of course, but far more tight and accurate than the M50.  The soundstage and detail are far more accurate than the M50.

The only thing I didn't like, is what I think is the signature high-end AT sound.  Much like the 950 LTD, I found the overall sound a bit chilly.  But that could improve, and I think it would, with burn-in.  I gave it all of 20 seconds of burn in.  And right out of the box they sound really great!

I just like the K701 better, that's all.  I can't even say it's a better headphone.  I just like it better.
