some info on changes from Version 5 to Version 9 from Arn Roatcap

Quote:
We implemented two major changes:

1) Now powered by a low noise external DC supply
(previously it was an AC wallwart.)
2) We went to a separate 8-pin DIP type FET input
opamp per channel - very happy with this
socketed opamp version. Better bass - clearer
sounding than the previous clarity.(which was already
better than the vast majority of headamps.)

We made a flurry of upgrades in 3 years.
Many people skipped some versions to arrive
at version 9.

Original owners upgrade from any version
to the latest for only $75 plus shipping.

Non-original owners upgrade to version 9 for $125 plus shipping.

LOL .. .Well, I am not sure anyone is going to understand what you are getting at unless you explain it a little better .... I mean, are you saying to buy it because it is inexpensive to upgrade it ?

yes, i'm encouraging someone to buy it. it has stellar reviews on here, and probably is amazing at version 5. but if someone is  worried about the upgrade, it's only $125 which is still $100 less than buying a new one ($620 with tax and shipping).

i definitely would buy it if i needed an amp. i was considering buying a new one a week ago but the $620 was just a little much so i got something else instead. $400 seems like a steal.
