Younger people don't usualy have the cash for goodies like these. Nor the priority over beer and drugs...

True....some of my friends are like that sadly.

Honestly, I thought all of the gear there sounded great. I don't think I heard one thing that I didn't like. I really liked Joseph Grado's setup and it was a real pleasure to listen to it and talk with him for a little while. He's really a great guy. I also really liked the HE60, STAX O2, and K1000. Somehow I managed to miss the R10 and LCD-2...oh well hopefully I'll get another chance sometime soon.

I'd like to thank everyone again for making this a great event. It was really an eye........ err ear opening experience in just how great sound can get.

CanFEST 2010 was well worth attending and a fine way to spend a hot Saturday.  As there are a pile of images from the event being posted on Head-fi and other sites, I felt I’d share the following link to a few images made while folks were talking with Joe Grado at his table:

Several had asked for copies and felt this would be a quick way of sharing them.  As there was also considerable interest there in the ”Joseph Grado HMP-1 Scanner Microphone” I’ve included some close-ups of it as well.

Sorry for the delay in responding to the question:

"So what source were you using?  Was there a interconnects terminated with the Protector balance plug that you used that Ray maybe used with his G08?"

The answer is:

The source was Meridian G08, the balanced cable was mil spec wire connected to female XLR on one end & terminated to Protector's balanced connector on the other end.

"DannyB, thanks for the WEE impressions."

My pleasure. I hope my brief comments were a little bit helpful. I will be better positioned to give an informed opinion when I have it in house and can do some close comparisons to other amps and including my Stax adaptor. Regardless, I'm grateful to Jack for taking the time and risk in making this little gem.

I apologize for Drew being slow on the pictures. I've been bugging him all afternoon.

The good news is I did not give Drew all my money Saturday.

The better news is I gave it all to him today.

I listened to the SR-71b on Rays HD600's and thought it felt fantastic. I will more than likely be lining up for one.

DannyB - Once again, a fantastic time. Thank you sir for all the hard work you put in.

Hah nope I wasn't there.  I've only been to meets in Southern California thus far. :)

I managed to make it out to the meet Saturday after breakfast a little after 10. There was a ton of gear set up and although there were not as many non-vendors as last year, there was no shortage of awesome things to listen to. Pierre Sprey was a character I wish I had had a good chance to talk to, I immediately noticed that he had a few really great headphones with him it seemed, including some rare vintage pairs that I have had few opportunities to hear in the past. Nice touch to have the hooters girls manning the raffle.

There were many many rigs with the flagship dynamics in attendance, fairly good show of what headphones are still in production. I was finally able to hear the RSA A-10 electrostatic amplifier which I had been anticipating. It sounded well, but it definitely seemed to match the HE-60 better then the Stax to me. The Woo Audio WES electrostatic was also available and I was able to hear it with my personal headphones for the first time, its a great amp. I got to spend a little bit of time with the KGSS and WEE as well. I was impressed with how much controlled bass came through that adapter, it definitely beats everything I've heard with my modded SRD7.

Joe Grado is always very willing to talk about headphones and recording, he is a real character. His first headphones, the HP series is still in my mind probably the best to come out of the Grado line-up, the PS-1 in close second. His piano track was very interesting to hear, the notes created the image of your ears being at the piano as if you were playing with your head right at the piano itself. It sounded very good. Its hard to believe how truly innovative he has been in the world of audio with his headphones, phono cartridges, and recording equipment.

Ain't that an understatement.  I can't tell you how much I've spent on both since joining Head-Fi back in 2001.  There is a reason for that saying here "Sorry about your Wallet!!!!!!!".
