I just reinstalled Windows XP on my work PC, and in the process I did of course lose the driver for the apogee mini-dac. Now the mini-DAC is discontinued, and the drivers seem a bit harder to get a hold of. Old links are gone, etc.

Option #1: Any workable tips? Which precise drivers work for Window XP SP3, and is there any extra steps I need to undertake manually in order to make it work?

Option #2: Connect to Mac laptop. But I've upgraded that one, too, to the latest model, and it only has the new FireWire 800, not the old 600 or 400. Does there exist any kind of hub or connection between FireWire 800 and the lower versions?

Or if all else fails, option #3: Anyone got a good optical cable to sell?

I can't answer #1, but for #2 you can obtain a Firewire 800-to-400 (9-pin to 6-pin) adapter or cable. The two connectors are perfectly compatible -- I use this on my Edirol FA-66 firewire audio interface.

@Edirol: Thank you.

@Dynobot: Thank you. I couldn't make the Driverstart find the mini-DAC, but the other two were valuable links.
