
Thank you Steve Eddy. I will try your first method first. I did try that before with a cheap little kit amp. It works but the SE output picked up all kinds of RF while the balanced side was dead quiet. Also I wasn't sure if a common ground between the two amps was safe.
RF? Do you mean you were hearing some hum and buzz or something else?
The CMOQ-1 through CMOQ-4 are basically the same transformer. The difference is the size of the cores, the "1" using the largest and the "4" using the smallest. The larger the core, the higher the levels they can handle.
H and L refer to the type of core they're using. H is for high nickel which is an 80% nickel core and L is for low nickel which is a 50% nickel core. Either one should work just fine and the low nickel is a little less expensive. Low nickel saturates a bit more smoothly than high nickel, but you really don't want to saturate either.
