Pure tube is completely unlikely to work well with 25 Ohm Denons. Tube Hybrid is a much better choice and just stick to solid state.
Thanks
as i have a LD MKV SS amp and upgrading to MKVII+ ( received but returned it cause of some problem, waiting or it to come back)
and i was thinking about getting a LD 1+ hybrid
but for the price, was thinking about getting a MKIII instead....
so for D7000 i can just start with the SS
how about those HD600 and Dt-880 600ohm? will MKVII+ ok ?
or getting a MKIII
Higher impedance will work better with a straight tube amp. A hybrid is still an SS amp, it just uses a tube to increase gain from the signal. The driver output is still SS. The 7000s are pretty lush sounding so I'd agree with the above that a SS amp would be your best investment. Now if you want to spend considerably more for what it takes for a tube amp to perform with the low impedance, it can be done.
Well, you can certainly go with an output transformer coupled amp (or custom) that uses a low enough secondary, but I haven't seen many that do. Most tubes generally don't drive low impedance loads within their "comfort zone" (basically, they don't have nearly the same linear response as they usually do with high impedance loads), with few exceptions.
In general I havent liked my denons on tube amps. I can say for a fact though, the BA kicks there ass better than most ss amps.
I'm throwing my hat in that I agree with the above that the Denons sounded better off of solid state amps (I'm currently using the GLite as it fits nicely on my desk at work). All the aspects I found to be a bit much, a tad too warm, and the bass sounded a bit flabbier, when run by a tube amp was resolved nicely with an SS.
WA5 LE??
I have the D7000 and the Decware CSP2 which does really well with the right tubes like the battleship ready Sovtek 6922 and a Sylvania 5U4G. It did not do well when I used the 6DJ8 instead of 6922. My SS Matrix drives them very easily and sounds great. You can use a tube amp but keep in mind the low impedance will really be hard on the tubes IMO. So I guess what ever your preference is if you like tubes go with the right amp. Decware new amp has amp adjustments so you can tune your cans and Steve told me they would drive anything on the planet.
See my post regarding tube amps
With my SS amp, the D7000's bass has more bloom and impact (so more coloured and fun). With my tube amp, the bass is more controlled and defined (kinda the opposite of what I would expect). The mids seem less recessed with my tube amp. The treble seems the same on both.
So it kind of depends what sound you're looking for: fun and bassy or more balanced (ss / tubes respectively).
I have no negative things to say about the WA22 with my D7000s. Well, I guess there's one... tube rolling is so damn fun but so expensive.
I'm sure they'll be pretty underpowered with a $300 OTL tube amp, but once you get into the high-end tube amps, there shouldn't be much to worry about.
I agree.

Have you heard the D7000s on a SS amp? I am amazed at how the bass changes from deep, powerful and bloomy to more balanced with less bloom (but yet still deep) on tubes. I also found the mids less recessed on my tube amp.
FWIW, the D7000s are only 25 ohms and don't need that much power to drive them. They are not like the Senn HD800 or beyer T1 that way. I've heard them on a LD MKIII and they sounded quite nice. So they can sound very nice on a sub $300 OTL tube amp IMO. Do they sound better on better tube amps? Sure, they do. But not a huge difference between from my experience.
BTW, between your avatar and mine, we've covered 2 of my top 10 favourite albums of all time!

Haha nice, my favorite album of all time is The Wall, with Nirvana's Unplugged In New York coming in 2nd.
The only SS 'amp' I've heard them on is an old Kenwood receiver. It had no problem driving them and they sounded great, but from what I can remember my tube amp destroys it. I'm always blown away by the bass I can hear in movies with this combination (not literally... of course).
I've been dying to hear what they sound like with a higher quality SS amp, so I've toyed with the idea of building a balanced beta22. Sometime in the (near) future I'll finally do it.
