Hey guys looking at stepping up from my 10 year old altec lansing speakers (REALLY cheap stuff, no BASS at all) so when I get money I will invest in a sound card and a set of speakers!! Could you guys direct me to the best price performance guys

My preferences is to stay with a good 2.0 setup vs a 2.1 setup because it gives a cleaner look and I always seem to kick my sub by accident! For the sound card I would like to know the importance of a soundcard WITH a headphone amp versus say... just plugging in my headphones into the jack on my PC case. I used to own a pair of UE triple fi 10 but sold them and will look to invest in another IEM soon. I also looked at some higher end studio monitors such as:
