Build Quality: For something hand built, the overall build quality is quite good. Of course, it isn’t nearly as perfect as something from a plastic molding machine but it is far ahead from the...
Disclaimer: My only other good cans to compare these to are Beyerdynamics DT770 (250). I fully realize this review will be biased because of that. So please keep that in mind. This review is my...
First Impressions:
Well, when I first used these, I used them in the same place I'd expect myself to continue using these, on the go from place to place, and while at places outside the...
I bought these this week from amazon.co.uk for £10 including delivery. That's US $15.
Packaging, appearance, warranty, euro-nanny knows best:
Mine arrived in the small European packaging box,...
Absolutely beautiful little player. It's just a gorgeous chunk of tech that feels good to hold. For me personally tech has to have form as well as function and the AK120 doesn't disappoint on...
That's an old pic of the previous generation Minibox. THe one I had used buttons not switches for the PtoS and bass boost. Don't know what's going on here.
Head-Direct told me it is just a change of opamps. Some upgrade/update. The chip is expensive and for the price of one from Digikey, you can get 2x ADA4627-1, which is much better than 627 in both the Minibox and my Compass DAC.
I am confused ny the new pictures on the website. I was very interested in buying the Minibox E+ because it had the bass boost and 'P to S' buttons, but the new ES version looks more simple with just a 'gain' button?...Can anyone confirm it still has both options like E+?...
Just received a message this morning from Ms. T in customer service: Only change was the op amp "upgrade" from an AD8610 to an OPA627. I wonder how this will effect the overall synergism of parts to sound?
The new version does not have the Bass boost or PtoS. That was the deal breaker for me. I heard rave reviews about how this amp was just made for ER4. As much as I LOVE my decade old ER4 I have to add a little bass. The circuit on the E+ is way better than a software EQ from a DAP.
Long story short....I found a used E+ for sale on the forums here and my ER4s have never been happier!
