Burson HA-160 or MF X-Can V3 for my Sennh HD650?

Somebody tried both?

My actual setup is:

Asus Xonar Essence (Burson Opamps)

Audioquest King Cobra cable

Musical Fidelity X-can V3 (Diy PSU)

Sennheiser HD-650 (Cardas cable)

I would like to upgrade my setup, is the burson better that the X-can v3?

Maybe can you suggest me another SS or Hibrid amplifier?

I listen Pop, Rock, Jazz and Blues music.

Thanks a lot

You can get better amps than the Xcanv3 for HD650.  They synergise tonally, but they also roll of the HD650 treble and subbass - the two weaknesses that don't need further roll-off in the HD650.  Also the Burson is said to be warm, and people do not generally pair a warm can (HD650) with a warm amp, unless that's your thing.

thanks SP Wild, can you suggest me a good amp?

my budget is about 500 euro (650 USD)

thanks

The Schiit Asgard and Matrix M-stage costs less than half your budget.  I lean a little towards the Asgard for its deeper bias into class A, but both have considerable positive feedback with Sennheissers.  Both options are preferred over other amps costing over twice as much on a regular basis.

Perhaps the warmth thing cancels each other out, like a double-negative. The Burson HA-160 was designed specifically to be used with the HD650, and there are a multitude of extremely positive reviews on the combo. If I was looking into a SE SS amp for my HD650 I would give the HA-160 serious consideration.

"During the design process, the team aimed for proper drive into what were then considered the toughest headphones, Sennheiser's open-backed 300-ohm HD650s. The rationale was simple. If it could handle those, it'd handle anything with equal grace."

I can tell u that the Burson sounds really really nice with the HD600.  I wouldn't really call the Burson warm unless you compare it to the concerto (which is the context in which it was called slightly warm by 6moons) If I remember rightly they also prefered the sound of the burson to the sound of the concerto... so it wasn't said in a bad way.

As for the HD650 I'm not sure how it would play with the burson but as Grokit has said a lot of people have had good results with it.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my HD650 plugged into the very warm Cayin tube amp and loved the results - I had no problems with warm on warm.

Ok guys, i think i will buy the Burson, but i would like to be sure it's better than my X-Can V3...can you confirm it?

Thank you very much

Hmm u will need to find some1 who has compared them both.  pretty unlikely that any1 has as the burson is a pretty recent amp and the V3 is pretty old...

You can't go wrong with the HA-160/HD650. : ) Welcome to the club.

PS, I have also done a short review on them if you need more to read about.

Just another question....the Burson have 2 headphone output, are they low and hi impedance?

"Being unmarked, the outputs aren't entirely but optimized for different impedances - 15 to 150Ω on the left (low), 150 to 500Ω on the right (high)."

Are you sure?

Maybe is the contrary?
