Does the Cowon J3 have good bass quality and depht?

Considering cowons have severe bass roloff with low impedance phones, technically no it does not.

 

Though I've never heard it.

I have not heard the J3 either, but I own its predecessor, the S9. While it does have a bass roll off with lower impedance phones, with my PX100 at 32ohms and some tweaking with the EQ it is hardly noticeable to me. There is still a slightly "hollow" quality to the bass, but it is very vague and it is not a big problem for me.

 

But I still feel that there isn't a strong sense of depth in the bass. Sony's DAP:s seem to have a better EQ when it comes to tweaking bass.
