No, not really... It was just to tease Guy to answer - I have no idea whether he likes RE-7 or not.

You have to pay more attention to emoticons...

Someone doesn't like the RE-7? Unpossible!

At this rate my impression of the RE7 will come before this one.

Tough Crowd!

But I commend Guy on his Steely Nerve!

I didn't see any provision about loaner recipients being required to write comprehensive reviews. The dude already posted some impressions. What more do y'all want?

I agree with GuyDebord when he says it takes a long time to really familiarize yourself with a new dac, especially when comparing two same tier dac's. You may immediately notice some differences and broadly describe them, which has already been done by GuyDebord's first impressions. But to confidently identify and gauge the suspected differences requires many hours of hypothesizing and testing, and sometimes it might be just too much of a mess to figure out and you may as well stick with your first impressions. That's why I have mostly given up trying to do in-depth review, I don't have the time or patience anymore tongue.gif all I care about now is "does a or b sound more pleasing to my ears".

A quick 1 paragraph final conclusion in relation to the other hi-end dacs would suffice.  Questions can be asked and answers provided if one finds it difficult to write in-depth reviews.  I believe the DAC has been sent on to the next recipient so its a matter of making the conclusion sound pretty.  Unless his comparisons are still being made with memories of the ref 7.  Being fortunate to participate in this loaner program, I think it's a given that one should post impressions as a return service.  A conclusion to the impressions would be nice.

This whole situation is now exacerbated by the impeniding run-out of the very last ref-7.  People are dying to know.

GuyDebord has been interrupted by his work, which has put us behind a bit. I'm not going to stress over it though. I know things will get back on track soon enough. The guys in the program are all professionals of one kind or another so I'm confident they can work through any issues that come up. Believe me though that I'm as keen as everyone else to get their impressions.

Ok, come on Monkey.  It's time for some initial impressions. wink.gif

From what I can recall (for whatever that's worth) It sounds similar to the Esoteric D-70 I had a while back.

That sounds like a good neighborhood to live in.  Makes sense considering the chips.  Are you doing SE or Balanced?

Dynamic--single ended.  'stats--balanced.

Thanx!

Balanced >> STATS --  Wouldn't mind hearing that myself...
