Source for 1/8"-to-RCA digital coax cable?

Title says it all. I'm going from the digital-out on an Archos Jukebox to my Benchmark DAC1.

I think I can get one from Markertek pretty cheap. Any RatShack (or other B&M) alternatives?

for a quick fix:

Radio Shack Gold Series Mono-to-Mono Plug Adapter. It's a 1/8" mono phone jack --> rca jack adapter.

The part # is 274-897

You can then use a standard 75ohm RCA cable that is suitable for coaxial digital.

Beware that it may be splitting the signal. I tried that with the digital output from my Audigy 2 to my Dolby Digital Receiver, and it was missing some channels. It was weird.

Although it may be different with a stereo PCM output. Try my Radio Shack solution to see if you can hear the difference. Remember that Radio Shack will let you return it.

Thanks for the additional advice, Ed.

The stereo signals seem fine with this setup. I admit that I don't know what the stereo cable is doing that the mono mike cable I tried doesn't, but it works. Maybe I'll try another cable sometime down the line.

I am not looking for the utmost in sound quality here. First of all, it's mp3 (256k encoded). Secondly, it's for an open cubicle office. Third, the primary source will be a PCDP, with the Archos providing some neat flexibility. I am just glad it works under Rockbox too!

Yeah, Rockbox is a huuuuuge improvement over the POS operating system that Archos has.

If only they could support Monkey's Audio or FLAC.

Oh, and true random shuffle would be nice.
