Question on Amphenol Ecomate connectors

I want to use a connector like the one linked below to connect my S11 to a balanced M3 - so I have to run 4 wires. I've looked at the data sheet for these Amphenol connectors

http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Amphenol-Tuchel/C016-10G014-000-1/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMvf6myxbP4FpMTa63RMl0aZmnfuOWpmO9k%3d

and just wanted to double that where is says "3 + PE" connections that is in fact 4. I assume it just means pin earth or something like that to tie the shield to but want to make sure I can run 4 separate lines through it.

I've seen it used on a few B22's but couldn't quite confirm how many lines it was used for. If anyone knows that'd be great. Thanks.

I would use the 5+PE variety instead. ;)

Yes, 3+PE is in fact 4 poles.  The "PE" pole will make contact first when you insert the plug into the socket, and is usually used for ground (when it makes sense), but for M³ and σ11, the umbilical cable should never be "hot plugged" anyway.

Ok thanks for the clarification.

Also I guess for simplicity's sake it would also be possible to use the 3 contact Neutrik Power Con connectors and just connect both M3 boards to the the single +/- contacts in the case?

Even though there are separate V outputs on the S11 board is there any difference between running two pairs of +/- lines to the separate M3 boards vs. one cable with +/- and tying both boards to that? Thanks for the help.

There is no difference as far as I’m aware. The 4 separate outputs are there for convenience, depending on your intended application. If you look at the Schematic the V- outputs are shorted together as well as the V+.
