The hifiman did it, now others will follow suit. The difference is that the ColorFly will have top notch internals,.....that means it might actually warrant the high price tag.

 

I still may chance getting it - it's a huge smexy beast!!!

The LD DP_1 looks great. "CNC machining aluminum alloy casing is made from a single aluminum core". I am not sure why some consider this plasticy.

 

It is doubtful that I would want any of these but it is an intriguing growth area in this hobby of ours.

Lol, I had no idea that was supposed to be a unibody chassis.  The first few pics make it look like metallized painted plastic.  The machining is a bit rough though.  I assume thats but a prototype.

for one metal is heavier. Hopefully its machined better than my LD 4 SE's faceplate.

It does look like you could use it as a serious weapon but that might be misleading. Most of the nicer portable amps have metal cases and some are pretty light.
