IEM amp

Right now my rig is mostly just through my PC. I have an Auzentech X-Plosion, (a little old I know), but I did upgrade it with some LMV-4562 OPAMPs. I used Denon C551k IEMs up until UE had the UE-700s for crazy cheap, so I jumped on those.

The thing is that my Denons had impedance of 16 ohms where my new 700s have 40 ohms... The 700s definitely are more accurate and better sounding, but I feel some... color? is lacking in the sound. I'm not exactly an audiophile here so thats the best I can describe it. And I'm fairly sure that the massive increase in impedance is either partially, or almost entirely the culprit. I also assume that an amp would make up for this... correct?

I was just wondering if there is a good article on some amps or something that I could do some reading on. Or if there are any easy answers here... (I need to be educated :p)

Thanks a bunch in advance for helping somewhat of an amp noob out!

Yeah I'm finding out that an amp is probably one of the last things you should buy... I'm just curious if its worth it when I've spent like $130 on a soundcard and a $200 pair of IEMs playing lossy formats...

Is my Auzentech X-Plosion with LM4562 OPAMPS really enough to power my headphones?

Upgrade your source material! At the very very least have it be 256 or 320 kbps.

Haha I was considering it. :) Auzentech X-Fi Bravura sound about right? Has a built in amp I think... *goes off to a review*
