Up for sale is a Head Room Desktop Portable Amp with DAC. Manufacture date is 5/11/2006.
This is one of the earlier models of the Desktop Portable Amp BEFORE they went to rechargeable internal batteries. This amp can stay connected to the power supply all day/every day with no adverse affects (unlike some later desktop portables). If/when you want a portable amp then plug in the external battery pack (4 x D-cell batteries) for 20 hours of listening.
I purchased this amp on Head-Fi about two and a half years ago from the original owner. I listened to this amp and an Ultra desktop head-to-head for 12 months and found very little difference between them. (I'm sure some people would notice but I can't ). Then the economy went south and I sold the Ultra. Now it's time to let this great amp go.
This amp features the well known "Desktop" electronics module. At the time of manufacture that means Burr-Brown 2134 op-amps with Headroom's version of the Walt Jung designed "diamond buffer" discrete transistor. The DAC in this unit is Cirrus Logic's flagship CS4398 24bit/192kHz, 120dB dynamic range DAC with a DAC board that uses Burr-Brown 134s. (All of this info is straight from the owners manual).
The amp comes with power supply, battery pack, owner's manual, unfilled registration cards and the original sheet of headroom stickers. I don't have the original box but the amp will be packed with more than ample protection for shipping.
