SALE OVER

I bought these five months ago.  They're fantastic headphones.  I listened to them through my M^3 with STEPS in a smoke-free environment.  I listen to my music at moderate volumes to preserve my hearing.  They've had a few hundred hours of use, enough to allow sufficient burn-in to bring out their best.

PS1000 - $1,200 ($300 off the price I paid brand new)

HD800 - $1,100 ($300 off the price I paid brand new)

Prices are CONUS and PayPal Personal rather than Vendor, which charges a fee.

The HD800 is sold!  The PS1000 is not!

I am interested in the ps1000's.

Can you give me the serial #.

Have you had any problems.

I am concerned about their QC issues.

Thanks,

Scott

I think these are 889.  The numbers are scrawled across the wooden inner cups.  I'll take a pic.

What is it?  889 or 688?  There's got to be a logic at work.  Anyone?  Anyone?  Bueller?

The serial number should be hand written on the box as well.

I don't see it.

what's the relevance of the SN?

Why is the SN burnt in like that

Free bump.

I don't know if it's burned in or just marked in with a black pen.  These are hand made.  You wouldn't see that kind of artifact on something coming from an assembly line.  Sennheiser machines its number.  Grado is hilariously old-school about it.

I've not gotten an authoritative response to the question of the serial number's orientation.  I should probably call Grado Labs and see what they say about which way is up on the serial number.  You gotta love old man Grado, though.  He cares about the sound.  The rest of it is secondary.

After talking it over with my wife, I'm pulling the sale on the PS1000s.  These are the best Grados I've ever owned and the sale of the HD800 (which just killed me) took care of my financial issues.  Selling $1700 headphones for $1200 just seemed stupid to her, and for once we agree.  If my heart were really into it, I'd have probably sold these by now.

The first thing that came to my head after reading this post is that you have a very understanding wife. Most would have issues for their husbands buying $1700 headphones in the first place.

I have never heard of any ladies trying to talk their love ones out of selling a pair of headphones.

My wife only found out that we had a $30,000 stereo system in the living room when one day many years ago we needed the money and had to sell some of the gears off.... My life was not worth living at that moment.

If push comes to shove, I say sell the diamond before the Grado's

I have the best wife in the world.  She knows what's wrong with me, but loves me anyway.
