Burn-In process and switching amps

Hi,

I'm new to Head-Fi so please excuse if I hit the wrong sub-forum for this thread,

but the search-bar didn't help me with my question.

Before I come to my question, have some background info to my Problem.
I plan to upgrade my rig and add an AKG K701 which needs as far as I heard a proper amp to drive 'em correctly.

My current rig consists of an

-AKG K242 HD and my old

-Pioneer VSX-D512 (Nice 24 bit DAC inside the amp)

-Optical-Cord

-PC, running Linux
but I guess it won't be able to drive the K701 properly so I want to upgrade to a decent headphone amp in the future.

I plan to purchase the K701 before the amp but I am anxious that it might affect the burn-in progress/results if I burn them in on the old amp and switch to a better one afterwards.

-Is the burn-in permanent or does it evolve when I change my amp in the future and adept to the new amp?

-Which should I get first, the Headphones or a new headphone amp?

It would be nice if you could help me with my dilemma,

and thank you for your patience.

If there is any burn-in effect at all, it is due to to the mechanical action of the driver being moved. This happens as a direct result of reproducing sound and is completely independent of what type of amp that you are using to move the driver.

I would say buy the K701 first and figure out if you like the nature of it's sound signature. If you don't enjoy the general sound signature of the headphone no swapping of the amp and no amount of burn-in will make you like it any more.
