If you're citing Reservoir as a quotable comedy. Then I'm choosing Goodfellas

Got to go with Mel Gibsons, "History of the World" if there be one best, IMO ...

-Occupation ?

-Philosopher ...

-What?

-Stand-up philosopher ...

-Oh, you mean, stand-up Bullsh1at artist , then ... (cracks me up every time)

/ Though I too split my sides many times with the delivery of the lines in "Life of Brian" , easily right up there with HotW for the best in category !

I can't believe no one has mentioned Animal House.

"See if you can guess what I am now. [puts mashed potatoes in his mouth, then squeezes his cheeks, spraying them] I'm a zit. Get it?"

It's probably because a lot of the comedy was visual and/or physical in that movie, the lines were more for supporting that. For instance in this famous scene, Bluto only says one word:

Non-comedies with funny lines, I would go with Apocalypse Now.

"If I say it's safe to surf this beach, Captain, then it's safe to surf this beach!"

No Young Frankenstein fans here?

"What knockers!"

"Frau Brooker"

"What hump?"

"He vould have an enormous schwanzschtücker."

"Abby someone? Abby who? "

"Sedagive"

I could go on all day. I love this movie.

I still swear by Monty Python though.

The Miracle Of Birth, rofl!

John Cleese: "Oh and get the machine that goes ping!"

Graham Chapman: "And get the most expensive machines in case the administrator comes."

One of my favourite sketches and the end, "Ping!".

P.S. How could I forget Pulp Fiction? Just epic...
