Got to go with Mel Gibsons, "History of the World" if there be one best, IMO ...

/ Though I too split my sides many times with the delivery of the lines in "Life of Brian" , easily right up there with HotW for the best in category !

I can't believe no one has mentioned Animal House.

It's probably because a lot of the comedy was visual and/or physical in that movie, the lines were more for supporting that. For instance in this famous scene, Bluto only says one word:

 

 

 

Non-comedies with funny lines, I would go with Apocalypse Now.

 

"If I say it's safe to surf this beach, Captain, then it's safe to surf this beach!"

Yes.. Hitler on Ice was funny.. I remember yellow beard.. Real funny scene.. This guy had the worst job title ever..'piss boy.' Royalty would yell for piss boy.. He would come running with a bucket..& after taking a pee the guy would flip a coin in the piss bucket as a tip.. Funny as hell..

 

Lust in the Dust was really good.. They call me red dxck...lol
