Akademiks here...

A wealth of information for me to learn and my hunger for more inadvertently led me straight to the sign up page. 7 pages deep into the Beats By Dre™ thread, I'll go back to where I left off. I've been into HQ audio for a little while though BUT I haven't a clue about which headphones I should buy. I listen to v0 & FLAC mp3s, anything else will make my ears bleed. Now I just need some decent headphones because I know for a fact these Phillips earbuds aren't the best I can do.

I'm heading off to college in a little over a week so I know I'll be without a lot of cash but I'm patient.

Somebody lead the way or give me a map so I can find my way :)

Try a Grado SR-60i. Lots of people start with those and they have a lot of fans around here. Then again, why don't you tell us what kind of music you listen to? That's usually the best way to get recommendations. Also helpful would be your budget, associated equipment and if you're planning to buy other equipment to use with your setup.

I listen to Led Zeppelin all the way to T.I. and everything in between, I'm diversified. I'm not really looking for a specific sound, just above average quality in terms of overall sound.

Bass isnt an issue, I have an EQ if it's too high or low. I'm not too up on the lingo here either so if you use another word for vocal or trebel or something dumb it down for me :P

I would agree with the SR60 recomendation. I would also say the Audio Technica ES7.
