The He-300 is not an ortho.
Does anyone here know where I can potentially get a good deal on some HD 800s?
Are there not any HE-300 discussion/comparison threads?? For my money, I'd much rather save a bit more and get the HE-400 over the HE-300 any day of the week.
I heard them once, unfortunately after I heard the HE-400. I think you would be disappointed overall, after having the He-400s
It's very very unlikely. I haven't seen a deal in a long time on these. I think sennheiser is running a tight grip on their pricing. They beefed up marketing and locked the price! Ouch for the audiophile world. For the same price tag, I'd suggest getting the HE-6 and a good speaker amp or the LCD-2 and good headphone amp. I think either combination would beat the HD800.
DF--you're killing me! They = more than one. It = one (in this case the HE-300). Regardless, good luck in getting an answer. Can't help with that, as I have not heard the HE-300.
I thought this was a great review on the HE-300
Amen, my friend. Thanks for setting the singular / plural issues straight.
Also, we can't forget that it's "they're" not "there." See, this thread can serve as a good source for some free edumaction, too.
Their overview states sennheiser provides the full two year warranty on these. Not sure if it comes with everything a new pair includes, though
I would keep in eye out on the FS forums here, I've seen them as low as 800. 1100 refurbished is not much of a deal and I don't think the HD 800s are even worth their steep MSRP. But 800 is fair and I see them rather often for sale here.
He almost had me until the end, when he said that he preferred the sound of the HE-300 over the HE-500.
I also disagree with his descriptions of the sound signature of its more expensive siblings. Contrary to his description, the HE-500 is very neutral can. In that regard see also:
