My thoughts exactly. With all the added trouble that goes into it and the fact that you are basically buying in bulk, I really think you should be able to save a lot more than that. Just my .02.

Looking on amazon, the dt 990 premiums are 370-380. $230 is a savings of ~$130 or so with shipping. That's a pretty decent savings.

Those prices are temporarily (I hope) extremely inflated they are usually over $100 less and I have seen them for closer to $200 than that "great" deal from Massdrop.

Yep. Just a few days ago Amazon Warehouse Deals had like new 990 Premiums for under $200 and brand new ones can be found for ~ $200 fairly often.

 

I don't think think this massdrop thing is a very good deal and I suspect its at least partly due to the site maintainers taking a significant cut.

 

Edit: There are a lot of places I would look if I were interested in a DT 990 Premium starting with Razor Dog Deals. I think there's a decent chance he'll accept an offer of $230. Certainly somewhere close to that. No waiting, no signing up to websites, no committing to group buys. Sorry to be a dick but I just think group buy sites should be a saving you a lot more than that.

Keep your eyes peeled and use sites like Google Shopping. Screw massdrop, they should be providing cheaper prices than what can be easily found online with a few days of watching and waiting.

as far as i remember the denon ahd 7100 cost over 1.2k, so for the 900 bucks these are goinf for id say thats a good deal if anyones interested

I think the those Denons will start to come down in cost a lot. Unfortunately, the consensus is Denon failed completely in making a solid headphone successor and these are not as good as the ol' D7000

 

 

I actually really like these headphones. They stay plugged into my Asus ST all the time now. When I need a quick listen I go to them.

E.Expo  should be selling open box for $500, maybe 5-6 months from now.

 

The Uptowns were $40 at JR briefly, but that's long past. Very comfy, although if you're comparing deals for tone I prefer the $40 (now even cheaper if you can find them) Sony ZX701ip headphones.

 

I wouldn't get a pair even at that price. If you're waiting for that, I'd suggest hunting down a pair of D7000

The old Denon line is getting harder and harder to come by.

If they do decide to hunt a d7k I would suggest doing it sooner rather than later.

I don't know if any DAP's out there take regular sized SDXC or not but tiger has a 128GB for 69.99 after 15 dollar rebate.
