You could easily get a better deal on an LCD-2 r2 by buying used on the FS forums here.

The LCD-2 has a more physical & visceral mid-range and bass than the T1, while the T1 could be considered more balanced-sounding (specifically, more treble quantity compared to the LCD-2) with a bigger soundstage. The LCD-2 is also very heavy and has a lot of clamping pressure - I've seen a lot of people complain about jaw or neck pain with it. The T1 is a lot lighter and not as much clamping pressure.

You need to factor in an amp (and possibly an appropriate-level DAC) too, if you don't already have one. The LCD-2 and T1 have very different amp requirements and I'd consider the Schiit Lyr the minimum for the LCD-2 and the Schiit Valhalla the minimum for the T1.

SoundEarphones also confirmed that you can't stack giftcards on purchases - i.e., you can buy two, but you can't use two when buying the item you want.

From that description, the LCD-2s seem like a headphone I will enjoy.  On the other hand, not so sure about the large clamping pressure...haven`t ever been a fan of that.  I like my headphones to feel as light as possible, with as little pressure as possible.

I am thinking a larger set of earpads might help.

no deals for DAC/AMP for this year's spree?

The fiio e17 was $99 at b&h earlier, but it expired. It's now $115 at amazon, price is kinda unstable (going up and down a couple cents) http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-Headphone-Amplifier-Docking-Interface/dp/B0070UFMOW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354065265&sr=8-1&keywords=e17

Listen Darth..... I am going to let the secret out of the bag..... I have been hoarding it for myself in case I wanted to get one afraid if I posted it, they would be gone.

Audio Advisor has a great return policy. If you buy an HP and don't like it, you simply mail it back for a refund. Simple. Same with amps. When they do that, instead of labeling them as "open box" they label them as "DEMO"

Demo implies an item that has been messed with and usually is just another word for "STAY AWAY".

Anyway, I know you have been all over here looking for a sale on the HE400 but I talked to the guys at AA and they made it clear the HE400 demo is simply an item someone bought and sent back. It has to be in original condition. Check their policy.

So if you are looking for a deal. That is about 12% off on an HE just because one person used it for a few hours. That is prolly your ticket as they still have one up.

THere you go.

Ouch Sennheiser is ruthless in their price fixing. I think it's just shooting themselves in the foot. I think there's better cans for $440, you may want to reconsider.
