2010 Sony Walkman Line - Page 2

I used to be all over the idea of a 64Gb A847, but no more. I don't watch video and the 24Gb of my Clip+ is more than enough capacity so that I won't get bored with my tunes when I'm away for a couple of days.

Day to day I'm happy with 4Gb capacity.

Only thing I have found so far is the new E series up for pre order.  It has some nice new features on it.  The one that caught my attention the most was the addition of the SensMe channels.  I was not happy to see that Sony left that feature off the X series, so this might be a good sign on a refreshed x series.  Hoping anyway.

well, the new E is coming in soon, around early to mid september at least according to some sites in the UK, not sure about the US, would assume a similar timeframe.

the old S is being discounted in the states which probably signals a new model is coming, either possibly being shown off at IFA or just being introduced in mid august like last years was.  If anything shows up at IFA perhaps it will be a concept using android that could replace the X or just a new S series, which could be just the japanese S series with no atrac support.  If anything, news will come in mid august to late august for other additional models.

I should mention the new E series in the US also has a USB-port like the previous E in the states, so no WM-port.

My Cowon J3 is here, and I love it. Sony may be great, but I hate the way the treat their "foreign" customers.

do you have some pics of your J3?  What are some things you like about it, compared to the Sony line?

No pics yet (I'm lazy like that), and I love the EQ and plethora of sound enhancements and the fact it's powerful enough to drive my HP's w/more authority than a Sony DAP.

Don't get me wrong, I still love Sony, but they treat non-Japanese like garbage when it comes to product releases. I have no regrets on deciding to get my Cowon J3, as I've got a player that I consider the equal of any DAP that Sony has made, ever.

Sony is still great, but I'm just tired of talking up their products to make myself be more patient till something gets released - eventually.

I would be interested in any new Sony news.  I'm lovin my Sony X, drives all my headphones so far.  Are they really going to Android? That ought to be interesting.  Will it be 64bit?

I would say (without owning one) that the J3 is better than anything Sony have released.. they need to up their game especially to non-Japanese markets.

Well hopefully we will hear something soon. Have a great weekend!

Oracle's lawsuit against Google over the Android mobile platform has upset some developers, even though the ultimate effect of the litigation remains to be seen.  I guess Oracle bought JAVA from Sun and it now has to be licensed.  Wonder if this will affect the new Sony?

This is of course assuming that android will be used on the new walkman line. If anything is to debut, then IFA in at the beginning of september will be the place.

or perhaps if Sony Japan is meant to get new walkman models, perhaps middle of september.

Seems like that is where all the big boys are headed these days.  Do the JAVA thing on the portables.

we'll see, Sony hates to copy if it does not have to, I for one would rather see a Sony UI that is solid and stable than an android one.
