synergy of Littledot 1+ with K271

i've just become a happy owner of an AKG 271. wow, what a tuby smooth mids. being a tube lover myself, i'm opting for the littledot 1+ which fits nicely within my pricerange. have you guys any experience with these two combinations? any better alternative that has tubes sticking out of its chassis?

Great combo - the LDI+ is a fantastic value and drives them splendidly. Their mids are so smooth - one of my favorite phones. Add some EF91 tubes - you will not be disappointed. I'm not sure of your source - but my VDac is a tremendous addition to the chain as well.

i got a modded dac60 but i didn't realize the LD1+ doesn't have a preamp function which i also require. so if i may redirect my question- would any of the other LD models be a good match for 271?

I owned the LD MKIII - but didn't really get to try it with the K271s as I sold it to fund some other purchases. Since it's an OTL amp - it's really made for higher impedance phones (120+ ohm) according to David at Little Dot. If you are not totally sold on the tubes - I think the Matrix M-Stage is a monster bargain - and sounds fantastic with all of my phones and has a pre-amp option for you. Multiple gain selections make it a nice solution for a very wide range of headphones for when you add to your collection. I tried it with my K271s and it was outstanding. It has a very neutral quality to it but that seems to be a great plus for AKGs - and it's an ideal match for both my K701s and K271s.

sadly i've already converted to a tube-aholic a long ago. so, sadly, any solid state is out of the question, when i'm already devastated enough about having no option but to use an SS amp for my speakers due to the budget... right now i'm considering heavily about LD MK4 SE (haha i know, budget my 1$$) what do you think about my choice? obviously a great preamp but for powering a 271, a bad choice?
