hi thanks you just answered the question i was going to as as i opened up one of the lod i bought off the ebay seller who told me it dont need a resistor and he didnt have a resistor in their and instead had 11 and 15 soldered together and that was running to one of the other 3 pins and i coulnt see which because of the glue. so that info was very helpful. thanks.

also the lod i bought of ebay connected like this dont give me no warning when i use it.

I would doubt that it is 68k that they are looking for, but I didn't do the research. If it says use 68K, then yes, you got the wrong resistors. 0.6W seems a bit big, but if it fits physically, then they will be fine.

thanks i also ordered the 68k ohm resistors last night just to make sure i had the right ones.

cant belive how cheap these actually are, they had them on sale for a penny each lol i just ordered a hundred.

so it doesnt ask you if you wish to switch on airplane mode? thats odd, it should, without the resistor in there it basically bluffs the idevice, but doesnt know what the device you are trying to use is, so tells you its not an official 'made for iphone/itouch' product and would you like to switch on airplane mode. you just have to hit the ignore button and it works anyway, but with the resistor in there it thinks the LOD is the real deal licensed product; so instantly starts sending audio to the dock.

seriously the ones i bought off ebay dont ask me anything and iv even opened one up and had a look and theirs no resistor and it also has pins 11 and 15 but no 21.

thanks to your advice i managed to make an lod last night from bits of gold wire i had left from the other attempts but only had a neutrik jack left till i get my new order, this was also done with just gold wire as i had no silver left. its quite short due to me having to cut off the ends of the wire where i soldered before but it actually turned out to be the perfect size and this also gives me no warning. iv uploadid pictures with it next to my alo triple pipe cryo lod. im actually very happy with this and it sounds amazing.

thanks for all your help guys

lod now made without the resister with the connection gusp told me about and it sounds amazing, i run out of the silver wire and the remaining was too short and used only the old gold wire from the failed attempts so it was quite short after i had to keep cutting off the ends where it was soldered previously and also had to use a neutrik jack but it turned out to be the perfect size and heres a picture of it next to my alo triple pipe cryo lod.

waiting for more jacks, resister and my new order of wire from the goldsmiths to arrive and il give it another go.

thanks for all your help guys

hmm, maybe theyve changed the requirements for the touch 3G, or just adjusted the firmware to allow for non-standard devices as long as the grounding is set up correctly. for sure all the iphones and touch 2G had this message

that most likely is the case as im getting no such messages, but think i remember geting the airplane message when i had the old iphone 3g and i have just tried it on the 3gs and iphone 4 and it says the following-

this accessory is not optimized for this iphone

but it says this for both the alo cable, the one iv made and both the ones bought off ebay

but says nothing with the touch 3rd gen
