[Need help] Are these SONY MDR-7506s fake???

I will have to agree with your brother. Time and time again, I see eBay flooded with countless 'Chinese' retailers, that sell nothing but fakes. Fake headphones, that is.

If the price is affordable to you, than find another headphone that is within your budget. If you are 100% set on that specific headphone, find one used.

I don't know if those specific 7506's are counterfiet.  But, recently I ordered 3 pair from an individual in China for less than $60 each including shipping.  (ebay) 

I've been using MDR 7506's for about 20 years now. 

If what arrived are fake, or counterfiet... they are the best counterfiet's I've seen.  The sound seemed exactly the same.  The packaging was the same.  The ONLY thing I found a little different is the cable.  It is shorter on the model I received from ebay.  (Shorter people in China?)

Everything seemed to be spot on. 

Shipping is VERY slow when it travels around the globe.  But, within 3 weeks the headphones were in my hand.

i would say they are real. the markup in retail stores is HUGE.

sell for 150-200 here. let's be honest they only cost a dollar or so to make in china, so they are still making money, a retailer here has to pay rent, salary etc, hence they sell for way more.

from USA i ordered akg 700'sa for 150 which retail for 450 new.

you can tell from the ebay sellers feedback of almost 99 percent that he is not selling fake items.

Oh and you think feedback that is good means that they are not fakes? Let me tell you, many people cannot tell the difference and think that they are the real deal= good feedback on counterfits . This is because most people are upgrading from iBuds, the fakes are better than the iBuds but are not the real deal. Sony MDR-V6 for $25, I find that too good to be true if it was the real deal

Those are selling for ~150CNY retail price (roundly 25$) in China. If you buying high amount of them, I think it would be less than 10$ each. It is not exactly "fake" in term of the item because is using the same driver and design as Sony. However, they are made in  farm-like setting factory without quality check. The quality is very unstable, it might sound whole lots differently for each pair of them.

Out of Sony 7506 and v6 the only one that should be made in China are the V6's.

If you can't afford the 7506, get the v6(practically the same thing but $20 or so cheaper) from B&H or even Electronics Expo, NOT ebay. Electronics Expo is having a sale with lots of coupons going around so, you should look into it and Guitar Center does price matching as long as it's an authorized dealer.

Considering they're $70 on Newegg, why bother?
