NuForce uDAC with Audioengine A5 speakers??

Hello every one. My first thread here. I am a total noob. Any sort of help, advise or recommendations are welcome. I bought the NuForce uDAC-1 for connecting it to my Audioengine A5 speakers. Is it a good combination? I basically will be using the uDAC only for speakers thru RCA cable and wont be using the headphone that much. The A5 speakers i suppose has inbuilt amp.

My applications will be games, movies and music.

I also need to know how to connect (or configure) my laptop, uDAC and speakers to complete the setup.

I know that i got to connect the DAC through USB in my laptops USB port, but then i got no clue how to make it work. In the uDAC manual they have not mentioned anything about the procedure.

If i am missing something in my setup then do tell me. I want to make full use of my current setup in a right kind of way.

Everything's fine. For the most part it should be plug and play. Just in case it isn't, you go into Start > Control Panel > Sound options, and set your "USB Audio DAC" to default device. Then whatever sound your laptop decides to output, should be through the uDac to the speakers.

The A2 and A5 have had reports of humming over the last 2 years.

Even did it at CES in January. Has this been remedied?

Good, because at inception, Audioengine, while making fine speakers (I was going to buy the 5's for desk duty),

had a lot of reports of the built-in amp making a buzzing sound, or hum. It might have been the synergy between them

and just certain components, not all. I'd have to do a google search.

Here's one hit from Google (here are more): http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/385161/audioengine-a5-humming-hissing-popping-cracking

The people in the Audioengine booth told me at CES 2010 that they were working on it, so it must have been an actual problem

and not just hearsay. The price is right and the speakers are nice especially the build materials.

my A2's hum without anything plugged into them when switch on, however, when i plug in my phone and play from there, there are not problems
