SPDIF sample rate reader LCD - How?

I got this idea from here:

http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/398737/ic-diy-spdif-switcher

I have been searching around and found a thread with pretty much what I'm looking for here:

http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/371015/lcd-display-for-dac

Instead of bumping the old thread, I figured making a new one would be better. So, does such a thing exist? Something either DIY or in kit form that displays sample rate and bit depth?

It is generally better to bump the old thread than to start a new one.

The thread you linked to links to s project that does exactly what you are asking for.

I think this would greatly upset the jitter gods, if I were you I'd add a reclocker on its output.

Damn it, I forgot about jitter. The circuit would probably be difficult enough for me to do without having to add a reclocker. Maybe I give up now while I have nothing invested :P

leeperry, the link doesn't work. I think I'll give up though, I was mostly looking for a easy DIY solution since I can barely read schematics and diagrams. I think this would be a hot-ticket item for a manufacturer to make though...

A couple of non-printable characters caused the problem. Try this link.
