USB to I2S conversion in DAC.

Wouldn't it make sense to make an I2S converter at the DAC using USB from the computer? Why wouldn't this be a standard for computer audio?

There are USB to I2S converters out there . The Teralink X2 is such a product.

Not sure why it isn't the standard...

Yeah but then you have to wire the dac for I2S input. Putting the usb connector and converter on the board with the DAC would get rid of all but the computer interface like a .3m usb cable.

The isabellina takes the usb in and it uses the I2s from the usb straight to the dac chip. Is this what you are talking about?

Yeah, the Isabellina comes to my mind as well... Great little DAC!
