JH3A - How will you feed it? - Page 8

I can't find any evidence that the Cowon Q5W or Pacemaker have digital outputs. The Q5W has USB host support, but that doesn't count here.

Cowon D5 seems to have HDMI -- might be adaptable to coax somehow? (I'm not sure what that would take.)

FiiO X3 seems to be the only true winner out of these players with mini coax coming right out of the top!

The Cowon Q5 does have a digital out, it uses an adaptor (something like a bulky LOD). Check this out:

The orange lead is the digital out. This person used it:

The Pacemaker has a headphone out that doubles as a digital out.

Thanks for the clarification, violinvirtuoso. That Pacemaker looks like a fun little player, especially being a dj myself... Still seems a bit too pricy for me.

Hi everyone, I am really looking forward to the fiio x3 as the ideal portable transport for the jh3a. I do have an iphone too but guess the fiio would cost less and be less bulky then the cypherlabs solo. At home I am considering getting the hiface to also use with my speaker setup. Greetings, Anouk,

yeah.. i definitely have my eye on the fiio as well... sounds like a match made in heaven...

I also agree it sounds like a much better solution than the solo.

what is the fiio supposed to cost?

Don`t think the price has been set yet, i`m very interested to see it too.

So the connector from the solo to Jh3A would be....

So does anyone have a good solution on how to feed the JH3a 24 bit?

I've seen that it is not TOSLINK, so does the JH3a accept a standard sized RCA terminated SPDIF cable?

I'd like to set a headless SSD Mac Mini up with the JH3a as a bedroom rig, just not sure how to connect them (perhaps Weiss INT 202 or Wavelink SPDIF converters, or some DAC with SPDIF out (Weiss Dac 2))....

Other ideas?

Nope. As mentioned several times it's a mini coax connection.

My solution was toslink to coax adapter by Inday, but there are others and USB to spdif coax options.

Thanks, what cable will you use to connect the two?

Will the 3A suffer much if not feeded with a digital signal, ie is the Algorithm solo preferable to the HM-801? Or does the inferior resolution of an Apple product´s digital ability make the HM-801´s (24/192 converted) analog signal preferable?

How much does the "digital reading" / encoding quality matter, ie clock frequency-resolution etc. Does a "hifi reading" like Colorfly make a big diffrence from eg QLS QA350 or an Apple product? And if so does the CLAS compensate for an Apple product´s inferior encoding / "digital reading"?

Have anyone tested or even compaired these DAP with the 3A?

Thanks,
Jonas

So is anyone using moon audio cable plus the m2tech hiface combo? How does it sound?
