Read.

Listen... if we're screwed, we're screwed. Just sit there, sip coffee, watch TV while you can...

Something will happen in outer space in 2012.. I forgot the term, but it doesn't happen often.. No, I don't believe we will all die in 2012 or the world will end, but 2012 holds a significance to many religions which I found interesting..

Not too long time ago (1989), a minor flare knocked out the entire Hydro-Quebec grid, including some grids in Maine and Vermont (causing the USA to blame us).

Shielding would work, EMPs disable electronics for a short time. But this one would do it for pretty much the entire earth.

And if this is really Carrington-level, hey. Bye-bye amps (tubes fare better).

Chime in.

I've heard that too. If I'm not mistaken it's called galactic alignment.

Hey, you can still protect all your portable audio equipment. A microwave is basically a faraday cage. Put your stuff in there until it passes and there you go!

Nope, it's that's the London Olympics which is going to be a global embarrassment.

WIN

Anyway, if this alignment thing is going to happen (probably will) then it has already happened seven (7) times (I dunno, go ask NASA). And living creatures are still present. Maybe another species will simply take over. Hmm tyrant dogs.

dont know if anyone else noticed that, but apaprently right now we have two coronal mass ejections commin straight at us, which doesnt happen very often at all.

That article was printed last Monday and said that the two coronal mass ejections should hit us Tuesday ... which was 5 days ago.  I didn't notice anything ... did anyone else?

Agreed. I would expect some mass extinction events or something interesting at the very least in the geologic history.

Yeah I heard there were some Auroas present in the north (Norway, Nova Scotia, etc) unfortunately I'm too far south to see it.
