By the way, i checked the Adam and its as big as the Audioengine 5. I just need a speaker as small as the Audioengine 2 or something in between the Audioengine 2 and Audioengine 5.

Absolute max I can go for is HxWxD (8" x 5" x 6") but preferably smaller. I understand that speakers don't perform as good if constrained to such small proportions but I don't have that much space...

Thanks

Forget audioengine, pick a similarly priced studio monitor imo.

Audioengine's are a popular 'internet' brand, many people like them for the value.  However dollar for dollar your average 'consumer' brand will not sound as good as a model intended for professional use.  Focal, Dynaudio, Adam comes to mind, they all make smaller models...about the size of the A2, perhaps a few bucks more but with more musical accuracy to match.

i am sitting in front of a pair of Adam A5's right now and have to say that they are the best buck i've spent on audio since i bought my first pair of real headphones.  the thing that made me decide to try these out was that they purportedly had excelent soundstage and were incredibly accurate (even in the lower frequencies).  being mainly a headphone listener i knew from messing around with insignias and a few other cheaper bookshelfs something with good soundstage would provide a great deal of entertainment, but i was not prepared for the utterly ROCKING sound quality of these things.  precise, spacious, controlled, and powerful, they can seriously rock a room, and for computer speakers - after a long, long search - i have to say that are truely an INCREDIBLE deal.

they have been discontinued in the last month or so for the new a5x's, but can still be found for about 500 USD a pair.  and with the new a3x's ($600) on the market, and demensions of 10 x 6 x 7.5" i am not afraid at all to second their recomendation even though they are a bit bigger than the dimensions you asked for.

oh, and i just remember that the a5's and a3x's are front ported, so even though they are a bit bigger than what you want, you can get them pretty damn close to the wall in your placement.
