new arcade fire album brick-walled? - Page 2

I am not sure why people listen to music, but if this is "deal-breaking bad" music might not be your thing.

Its a brilliant album. Listen to it repeatedly. The sound isn't fantastic. But the songs are, which WAAAAAAAAAAY more important. Actually, it is the only thing that is important.

I'm not bothered by the sound quality.  Well maybe I am but I don't consciously attribute it to sound quality, since I do get "loss of interest and / or fatigue after only a few songs."  I blamed it on the music instead.  (Not to say I don't like the album.  I'm enjoying it.)

wtf?  really?

what an asinine statement to make.

music is my thing, pal.  way my thing.

and i think the album is mastered quite poorly.

learn to accept others' opinions for what they are.  opinions.

An asinine comment to make is that sound quality is enough to keep one away from great music. Maybe it makes a bit of sense when discussing recordings from 1903 where its all scratches and tin cans. But The Suburbs is simply nowhere near that. I think if sound recordings annoy people that much they are simply missing the point. It is something that is shockingly common on this site, though. It is ALWAYS a bad thing to suggest to someone that listening to an album is not worth it because of the sound, which is what you did. (oh, and just so we are clear, in my opinion!)

I don't think it is deal breaking. I like the album so far least of the three, but I am not disappointed by it. I tend to take time before I warm up to a new cd by a band I really like.

1.  I never said such.  Because i never said The Suburbs was great music.

2.  Asinine means ass-like.  Since I never called anyone else's taste or opinions into question, I can't fathom how my comment would be asinine.  Perhaps stupid or ignorant, in your opinion, but not asinine.

3.  Sound quality does not keep me away from great music.  Only average music.  The Suburbs is, in my opinion, a very average album, from a band that can do better.

Great album, but the vocals are too harshly recorded I think
