How to get digital playback out of the e-mu 1212m patchmix?

I've just got the Maverick D1 DAC with headphone Amp and am going to send it digital signals instead of audio to the D1 out of my e-mu 1212m soundcard. It will be via Toslink digital, not that it matters...

 

I'm baffled how to set up the patchmix so that the signal coming out is digital. I've tried every combination of new session, and the Main mix bar shows music playing, the Wave 1/2 shows music playing, but the PCI S/PDIF L/R is always blank.

 

Anyone know how to tackle this. Do I need to change something under Window 7, or another setting in the patchmix?

 

Extra info, I have tried media monkey, and some movies, different stuff.

If I recall, just right click on the active strip, wave or asio, then click sent to spidf,

but I don't have the EMU right now, someone else could be more detailed!!

I can see the PCI card S/PDIF L/R option there, but it isn't highlighted and can't be picked.

And thank you for the suggestion. Getting closer...

 

Oddly enough, my previous reply is under moderation. I was saying that the S/PDIF L/R option is there but it is not bold, therefore can't be picked via your method.
