This is my first real effort to build a nice model...if it goes well,DSC_0904good6.jpg            I hope my wife will get me an airbrush...Millenium Falcon from a 1983 kit. (print date from the instructions)

Wow that looks really nice. I'm not a model builder but I once tried to make a model of some Panzer and Tiger tanks and the Bismark but ended up not having the skills or patience to finish them. Wish I did though.

I've built two radio control gliders, a couple boats and 6 electric race cars.

I've tried my hand at detailed models like yours, but I don't have the patience for it.

Very cool.  I had a tie fighter but it didn't go so well...  Are you going to keep us updated with more pictures?  And how are you going to power the lights when the model is finished?

i'd venture a guess that model builders would be pretty good w/ amp and dac building...

soldering / gluing.  same thing, right?

I'm building a 12 volt battery pack from solder tab AAAs. I'm also adding a power jack for charging and a SPDT switch to toggle between parked and flight modes with the lighting.

@TheWuss...I've built lots of amps

Very nice job.

I've done every car I've owned. I would get touchup paint and spray the models the same color. My last move was too much for them though and they were in too much need of repair to save.

My final attempt will be a sailing ship. The ones that take a couple years to complete. I want to be in my assisted living quarters before starting it though.

I added some amber spotlights in the landing gear wells and some amber spotlights on both sides...

That is awesome. Wish I had the patience and skill to do that.

I was given that exact same model and gave up trying to glue it all together. It went in the trash soon after.

Then again...I was 11.

Whoa! That looks like a screen cap from a movie or something. Very nice.

Funny, from the pictures it looks like a real size spaceship just needs a little darth vador on the side and your good to go.

Nice stuff!  Really great work on the lighting and weathering.

I've built a few plastic scale models, but mostly when I was a kid.  More recently, I had a phase where I did a lot of miniature wargame models and I've since gotten into resin models, mostly anime figures.  Here's some of the stuff I posted a while back.

Haven't finished anything in a while though.  Lots of WIP stuff though.  Go figure.

Heh...don't I wish.  There's that little thing about getting the knowledge about schematics and what not that I haven't gotten to yet.

Equus,

those figures are fabulous... I gotta get me an airbrush.

That's an impressive Millennium Falcon!

I used to paint/build Warhammer models back when I was a kid, as well as some Star Wars kits when I was younger still. Now, I build/paint Gundam kits whenever I have some free time. It's not amazing, but I enjoy it nonetheless. All by hand, since I can't afford an airbrush.

Here's a few recent kits I've done:
