As in the title - I want to start DIY as a hobby. I think it will be easier to modify something than build from scratch. What will I need and how much will it cost? I know the basic tools I will need to get in order to start but I would like someone to list all the things that will be needed. So far my knowledge in DIY section is very lmited and I base only on some tips and tutorials that I have found on youtube and here. However, those tutorials assume that I have some general knowledge already and I just do not know if .e.g. there are some tools that I might need and I have never heard of. This is why I need a simple list of all tools and accessories - soldering iron, sponge; what else?
I think I will buy all tools from amazon.co.uk as this will be quite 'comfortable' and I will not need to search a lot to find something. Having said what is the 'place' where I am going to buy from I would also like you to suggest how much it will cost me to buy everything I need. Now I know that it might be quite rude, but as I said - I do not know a lot and so far the more I read the more confused I am. I think this is the biggest problem - each time I read another 'article' or thread about DIY authors of texts/posts come out with something completely new or 'exotic'. This kind of confuses me. And it is another reason why a list of tools wouldbe probably the best way for me to start.
There is another thing - the product I am going to work on. From what I read so far I think BT928 will be the right place to start. It does not cost a lot so I will not worry if I destroy the unit completely. On the other hand one of my friends told me that he has some old Creek OBH-11 for sale. He wanted for it about the same money thatI I would need to spend for BT928 - do you think Creek OBH-11 would be better? I know it would sound better straight out of the box, but would modding Creek be a better way to learn or it would have better effects (assuming that my DIY would be successful)?
So I think these are my all questions. There are quite a lot of things I need to learn but I thnk the best way to learn DIY is to actually start DIY.
PS: Are there any articles, threads, or videos that would help me? I am talking about pure advices on DIY and soldering not e.g. articles on what changes I should do exactly for the BT928 - I have found some very usefull suggestions on what to o with BT928 already.:D
