I want headphones. I am willing to spend $100 USD. I want them to sound good.
I would want the MS1 or the SR80i but I don't know what the Grado signature is like. (Supposedly harsh)
I would want the Senn HD555 but it breaks easily and lacks bass. (Stress cracks)
I would want the AD700 but the review are VERY mixed. (Harsh highs, bass anemic)
I would want the M50 but I need some soundstage for gaming and no detachable cable. (Dammit)
I would want the SRH440 but they just seems average as far as review go. (Bass lacking, no soundstage, etc)
What do I do?
I want comfort, a soundstage, some bass, good all around.
I listen to a lot of music.
I play quite a few games too.
Something that sounds good with Metallica would be nice.
Something that highlights the bass with NWA would be cool.
Something that makes my eyes water with Mozart would be dandy.
I want something at improves with a DAC and an amp.
If you help me instead of sending me into Head Fi confusion, thank you.
P.S. I know what you are going to say already. "Just buy a pair, they all will sound good!" I know this.

I'd honestly go with one in the $100 range first. You can always sell those and recoup some of your funds for a better can later on and you don't have to suffer without a decent set of cans.
