REVIEW: Ortofon O-One (Updated: 840, M50 vs O-One Comparison) - Page 3

I think they should get more love. Hopefully, I'll be receiving my pair by the end of September.  With a uDac-2 coming later on.

Oh cool, so you're getting the O-Ones, finally I have a convert!  Just be sure to burn it in for an incredible long, long time.  The treble will smooth out quite but it will remain slightly forward!  Hrmmm, I wonder how it would sound with the uDac2.

Edit: What make you go for the O-Ones?  Just curious.

Yeah I'm gonna listen to them as I burn them in. Well I'm not a bass-head to begin with. I want to hear the lyrics of what I'm actually listening to. Your review made me decide mainly. All the little comments added up and I decided it would be a great pair for me. The sound-stage is large, low on the bass, great sq, the look great, and the accessory package is packed.

Well, haha I hope you enjoy them!

Hi Mythless - thanks for taking "One for the team!!" We owe you big time now

Now you have this and the Beyerdynamic T50p - which one do you prefer for everything else than DJ'ing?

I am happy to see a company from my own country making great headphones. Just too bad that Ortofon strangely does not distribute these nor the e-Q7 in Denmark. I wish my own company (Bang & Olfusen) would make full size headphones again. (They just have a general problem knowing what people want these years...)

Hrmm that's a hard one.  The O-Ones have something special about them as well as the T50P.  Really hard to choose, both a very well played, but if I had to choose for non-critical listening it would be the T50Ps.  But for critical, and classical the O-Ones.

Hey guys i got some o-ones for myself after reading mixed reviews and i have to say WOW!!! they sound awesome

heres just a bit of what i think about them...

When i first recieved them the box smelled BAD but its ok i dont plan on putting them in my nose. HAHA Anyways i put them on to test them out first thing you notice is that they are big in comparison to the M50 but they totaly enclose my avg sized ears creating very good isolation. (using the felt pads) first impression of the sound was kinda funny you pay some company 200 bucks for awesome quality and on your first listen you would rather listen to apple earbuds!!! haha No all joking aside they didnt sound so good, thats ok tho speakers always need to be burned in so i left them to burn in for about 14 days at around 3/4 volume playing bass notes of every FR. and about any sound you can think of... After that burn in it sounded like some one was preforming live infront of me the clarity and dynamic range you hear if phenominal i heard thing in music and movies i never heard b4. listening to FLAC of course

i dont know why ppl are saying these dont have bass... i hear heavy bass but its not overpowering by any means highs and mids are clear also

p.s. they were so crisp and clear i heard an artist take a breath that i had never heard on any other headphone and it sent chills down my spine

Glad you like them.  I don't think anyone said the O-Ones "don't have bass."  Compared to other headphones of course the O-Ones don't have the same bass flavor or impact.  But, glad you enjoy them.

I have the O-Ones and enjoy them a lot. My only disappointment is that their isolation is poor. I spend lots of time on airplanes (O-Ones are no good for that, no surprise) but also working in areas with noisy ventilation that are not nearly as noisy as a plane. Although closed, the O-Ones don't offer much isolation at all. I use them in the same settings as I would open phones, except I don't have to worry about bothering other people since they don't seem to radiate much.

Other than that, I'm very happy with them. I got them for $129 from Turntable Lab, they don't carry them anymore.

One more complaint, their styling is a bit young for an old dude like me. Probably doesn't apply to most of their intended market.

Which pads do you use?  I find the pleather pads help with the isolation but somewhat uncomfortable for me, I use the velour pads most of the time and well, they don't isolate as much as I want, but I have my RE0 for that.

I've been using the pleather pads, haven't tried the velours yet. I agree with you about the RE0 for mildly noisy places. For airplanes, I use the noise cancelling iems that work with my Sony X. Even Etys don't block enough sound for me on a noisy airplane.

You should give the velours a try :D,  I think from my personal experience I find closed headphones don't isolate as much as iems, unless there is some active noise canceling device.  Well, that's if you don't have the need to up the volume that it begins to leak.

Old thread, but it's strange these haven't been mentioned in other threads. I just found them an thought they were new but apparently the weren't that new.

anyone enjoying them still?

This may be too late to help you, but just in case: the thread http://www.head-fi.org/t/447353/is-the-numark-phx-any-good has a comparison of the two.

By the way, I have ordered a B-stock Ortofon O-one from headroom.com.  I may post some comments later.
