Gizmodo: How to Pirate Vinyl Records

Gizmodo always seems to come up with fun stuff. Anyone ever try this?

i seem to remember reading suggestions about doing something like that in threads about using wood glue to clean records

I just wonder what the quality is like!  Might be fun to try with an old record or two.

I don't want to sound like a vinyl snob but if I'd ever tried this I'd use my son's "project" table and his shure cart. not my Helicon or clearaudio signature cartridges.......better yet DocHamm, please be my guest and try it for us!

No doubt man - I won't be playing something like that with my Benz LP-S anytime soon, either

Nonetheless, might be fun to try...

That method works quite well actually. I know that is one way to get your hands on some rare 78's. There are collectors who will sell you duplicates at an affordable price.

Seriously? That is interesting. I've never considered home-made LPs, but I certainly can see where some die hard collectors would do this to preserve original recordings.

I can't blame anyone for not wanting to try this or play home-mades. I finally gave up my vinyl, so I couldn't try this even it I wanted. Honestly, since moving into the digital world, I am once again spending much more time listening and enjoying music than just dusting, polishing, primping and praying to my equipment. However, some of my family and friends still refer to me as the Adcom goddess.
