Alright, I'm planning on building my first DIY cable, I'm going to start with a 3.5-3.5, and then eventually do an iPod LOD, but I have some very noob type questions...
Suppose I use 3 or 4 strand wire (Mogami 25xx or even Homegrown audio silver braid), how exactly do I mark which wires are going to be ground, left, right on both sides? With the Mogami, I can use both blue wires for ground, but how do I know which white wire goes to which soldering point on the different plugs? I'm afraid I'll solder one of the wires to the right channel on 1 plug, and to the left on the other plug...Since it's in the metal braid, then the black rubber, I'm not sure how to differentiate the two...are they already marked or anything?
Second question, do I need to use the techflex for strain relief, or is there another method? And finally, are there any 3.5 plugs that are easier to work with for a beginner?
I realize these are fairly stupid questions, but I was hoping someone could help me out, it'd be greatly appreciated, thanks!
