Need suggestion for CD player around $1000. Thx

Hi, guys, I now have a HD650 and Beyer Dynamic A1 Headphone Amplifier. I wanna buy a new CD player. Could you give me some suggestion?  My budget is around $1000

 

How is Marantz CD5004?  I do not have so much SACD. So, it is not a must for SACD player.

Thank you for your reply. However, I really do not wanna buy an used cd player... It is $1000... My wife will kill me if she knows that I spend $1000 for an used cd player.

The used market is where the best bargains can be had. New equipment is far over rated IMO. Just because it's used doesn't necessarily mean it's abused. I have never had a problem with any used equipment. Just make sure the seller is reputable and has good photos so you can see what you're buying. I'd take used over new any day. Not to mention that a cd player selling for $1k used will most likely have better sound quality than one that sells for $1k new. Why you ask? Because that $1k used player probably originally sold for $2k or more. That said, I second the the 840C along with these listed below which I found currently available and within your price range.

I used to have a Rega Apollo and, despite it being not totally tonal neutral, I found it a very ,usical and enjoyable CDP. I paid €1000,- for it, but it can how appearantly be bought for €600,- great price. And if you can find a used Saturn...even better.

Look at the Marantz 8003. There is a dealer on audigon selling them for 688.00 It is built like a tank and does sacd which is a nice option if you listen to classical and jazz

After some study. I think I will buy either Marantz CD6003 or Cambridge Audio 640C V2.

 

The problem is

 

I can not even find one in United States.

 

What a nice choice.
