Sony SCD-XE800 vs SCD-XS5400ES?

Thread Starter

I've seen a few articles about the XE800 that will be released next month, and the articles seemed to indicate that it would be based on the XA5400ES design.

Has anyone found detailed specifications for the XE800? How do they compare with the XA5400ES?

I'm interested in getting a good dedicated CD/SA-CD player, and if the quality between the two is close, it could be a very compelling value.

Bump. Has anyone done/seen any comparisons?

Or simply reviews of the XE800?

I haven't seen anything, either. Though I'm interested because I'd like another SACD player for the bedroom.

I've tried to see about getting the xe800 in the states but I've only found listings in other countries: http://www.sony.lv/product/hfc-cd-player/scd-xe800 .  I believe it was supposed to have already been launched in Japan but it's hard to tell whether or not it's actually being sold.

I don't think it's an ES product but Sony's also changed its policy on the sale of ES gear to non-internet channels.  wtf!
