Shopping for first pair of IEM's!

Hey everyone, looking to get into the wonderful world of iem's after trying a friends pair the other day.
Been doing some research and I think that the Sleek Audio's SA6 would suit my needs perfectly.

However I am always open to input/alternate suggestions.

Things to consider:
1. I'm trying to keep it under 200-250
2. Will probably coil the cable over ear.
3. I plan on on listening to a variety of sources, iPhone, iPod, computer, etc.
4. As for musical genres. I Love edm (electronic dance music), primarily trance and house. I also listen to a lot of rock (however broad that is) mainly red hot chili peppers, maroon 5, American hifi, weezer, stuff lisle that. I do occasionally listen to hiphop, but I'm not really into it.

Thanks for any suggestions/advice guys!

He has a pair of re0's and even though I'm not looking for a lot of bass, they seemed a little light on the lowend for me

I think the Radius DDM is a great IEM (if you can get a good fit). The Fischer Audio DBA-02 is also an excellent buy. If you can stretch your budget, the Earsonics SM3 is one of the best.

MTPC/G (you can probably snag the Coppers new from Onecall for under your budget via the myprice option)

I agree... but more bass than the RE0 could mean a little more or a lot more... IEM bass is different than other sources. Since it lacks that bass impact and feel, a big adjustment of bass is often necessary to get it to sound right. The Monster Turbine Pro line sounds right to me as far as bass goes. When I looked at the frequency response graphs for these phones on headphone.com, I found out that the bass on these IEMs is +20dB higher than the rest of the response curve... way more than I thought I was hearing. 4x more bass response sounded like 50% more to me. Guess that makes me a bass-head.

On the same topic of bass frequency response, I find that a mid bass hump doesn't sound right for trance and electronic music, because there is more detail and dynamic range in the bass and sub-bass in this genre.. not just kick drum thumps. Because of that I prefer either EQing the mid-bass hump thats present in so many IEMs to level out this hump, or picking phones without that mid-bass hump. Hippo VB doesn't have one, and neither do the Monster Turbine Pros.

Since you are planning on multiple sources, some of them offering no custom EQs, I'd recommend that if bass detail is important to you, that you pay particular attention to the quality and quantity of the bass in reviews, as well as a lack of a mid-bass hump.
