Moon Audio Black Dragon compatible with both HD650 and HD800?

Hi everyone!

 

I wish to buy a pair of HD650 and I'm also interested in an aftermarket cable, so I'm considering a combo at Moon Audio (~$650 for both).

However, I know I will eventually upgrade to the HD800 and wouldn't want to loose my cable investment...

 

On Moon Audio website, the Black Dragon cable seems to be compatible with both the HD650 and HD800 (unlike all others), is that real?

You would have to get them re-terminated where the cord connects to the headphone since the hd650 and the hd800 use different connectors.  It shouldn't cost too much so by the time you're ready to upgrade to HD800's you should have the extra 50-100 that it would cost to get it done (you could probably even find someone who could do it cheaper).

I would go wi the OCC Copper Zeus cable from AphroditeCu29.com

I made a comparison between a T1 with the Black Dragon and my T1 with the Zeus and IMO the Zeus was better sounding. More detailed but at the same time smoother.

Right now I am comparing my DHC Complement cable in my HD800 to a Zeus and to be honest they sound basically the same but the Zeus is less than half the price of the Complement.

 

I know Robert offer them for both the HD650 connectors and the HD800 connectors so you just buy the one for the HD650 noe and then when you are ready just send it back to Robert to change the connectors to HD800.

 

I have personal experience with the Balck Dragon, Silver Dragon, APS V2 and V3, Enigma Audio Oracle, DHC Complement and the Zeus. To me the Zeus and the Complement are at the top in sound but the Zeus is alone at the top at comfort (it is very light) and price/performance.
