I found it to be quite a bit cleaner and detailed, probably a result of my dampening and modding.

 

Dynamics seem to be a bit better too.

So this means the speakers from k500 are inside the k301, right? Anything else modded? like the cable or something.

Yes, I dampened the drivers a little and cleaned out the headphones.

 

The shape of the K301 is exactly the same as the shape of the K500, so the basic sound signature remains exactly the same.

I may be looking at these...

 

I see that they're modded.  Being a beginner can user, my first choice was purchasing ATH A-700 for myself.  I had some JVC over ear phones before and the A700s killed those. 

 

My question is, how in your opinion would your modded headphones stack up to the A700?

 

I presume that these are over the ear cups?

 

I ask because I'm looking at buying my cousin a new pair of headphones.  I'm trying to decide whether to keep the A700s or use yours instead as the present to her.

 

What is your opinion?

Honestly, these headphones will slaughter the Audio-Technica A700. They're in different leagues.

Hopefully I'll continue my education in headphones for years to come with these.  It looks like if what you're saying is true, I'll have yours and hand my A700s off to my cousin. 

 

I actually want to listen to them both side by side.  I'm interested to hear, compare and contrast them both.

 

...because I REALLY love the A700s.  IT'll be hard to let them go.
