Thread Starter

I am in the boat with all of you that are looking for some computer monitors. What are some of the best monitor brands that most of there speakers are less $1000. (Buying used will more that likely get to about $500).

AudioEngine makes some pretty good small ones, the A5 might be what you're looking for.

There's many many brands.

Everything from AudioEngine to Genelec to MAudio to Klein & Hummel.  There's stuff from $120 to thousands of dollars.

Is there any sort of master list that anybody has wrote with reviews/prices/availibility of computer speakers in said $120 to thousands range? It'd be great if there was a consolidated list to help reduce the constant "help me find a speaker" threads and even help experienced members do research.

Studio Monitors

*Some of the prices are for a single monitor.

I have Genelec 8020's and wouldn't trade them for, well for anything in their price range or a little above it surely.

They are built like tanks, have amazing bass for their size, and have a mostly neutral sound.

To me they are really, really worth the money.

Let me think...

Genelec 6010as

M-Audio Bx5a/Bx8a/Cx5s

KRK Rokit 5/6/8

Mackie MR5/8s

etc.

The Bx5as are AMAZING for the price. See my "mini" review here.

The best thing is just go out and listen or better yet the dealers may let you take the speakers home to give them a listen.People could drop the names of some companies but it's your ears and what you like to hear that is the final judge.Don't buy the brand buy what you hear.
